HWNS has a vacancy within the Rights, Quality and Risk Team for a Notifications Officer.
We are looking for someone with a strong desire to ensure justice and enhance human rights for people with disabilities, in particular to assist with protection from abuse and neglect.
As the successful candidate, you will be provided with an opportunity to join a group of like-minded professionals, dedicated to improving quality of life for people with disabilities by ensuring that reportable incidents are acted on in a timely manner. You will develop your knowledge about schemes to promote and protect people’s rights to live free from abuse and will also learn about the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
The Role
The purpose of this role is to work with the General Manager, Rights, Quality and Risk to ensure HWNS meets its obligations in reporting to the NSW Ombudsman Office, under the Disability Reportable Incidents Scheme to protect people with disabilities from abuse and neglect and promote their human rights. The role will also provide general administrative support to the General Manager, Rights, Quality and Risk, and more broadly to the Rights, Quality and Risk Team.
Activities include maintaining the notifications register and investigation files, keeping accurate and up to date records of all enquiries by and feedback from the office of the NSW Ombudsman; liaison with support services managers and the ombudsman office, reviewing notification forms and supporting documentation. More general administrative tasks include support to the Human Rights Committee, the Serious Incident Taskforce, Rights, Quality and Risk Leadership meetings and Team Forums.
Selection Criteria
- A passion for Human Rights and protecting people from mistreatment, exploitation, abuse and neglect;
- Demonstrated in-depth understanding of the Disability Reportable Incidents Scheme;
- Outstanding customer service, attention to detail and adherence to privacy;
- Well developed written and oral communication skills and proficiency with Office 365 and Sharepoint;
- Strong organisational skills, with demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise workload, handle multiple tasks and work efficiently and effectively to deadlines and, respond to multiple and diverse stakeholders;
- A commitment to quality and timeliness;
- An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and the National Standards for Disability Services.
